Okay, so for Pillar size: the Washington Monument is 555 feet tall and 55 feet across at the base for comparison. It's pretty tall, no doubt, but well within human standards. In fantasy land, kinda small I'd say, especially if we're going for awe-inspiring.

the Burj Khalifa is the tallest man-made thing on Earth, at 2,722 feet and I don't know how big across. At Washington Monument proportions it'd be ~270 feet wide.
