The Blowing Bight is a coastal area on the eastern shore of Gedik. It is peninsular, with large bays on each side. It is notable for its extremely fast and persistent winds. Sailors approaching the bight must often trim, tie or remove their sails to avoid damage or capsize. The causes of both the persistence and speed of the winds are unknown. There are many tales of people, horses, carts, etc traveling too close to the cliff edges and being blown off, as well as a number of capsized ships.
